Our cat run

(2009 onwards)

It took a while after moving but we finally have a cat run again. It's not quite as big as the old one, but the cats love going out onto the lawn, and we know they are safe and secure.

Even though we live in a quiet, rural area, surrounded by fields, the lane we live on has some speedy traffic once an hour or so, there are foxes about, occasionally even fox hunts complete with hounds and horses, and it simply is not safe to allow the cats to wander unsupervised. (Plus of course, should they meet a stray cat, they could potentially get infected with various fatal diseases.)

John and Richard therefore built a new safe run.

Here is the new run in 2009 (with Rufus the Cavalier King Charles outside it)

The only trouble was, we have no patio door here, just windows.

The entrance to the run had to be via a window.

Cats jumping in and out via a window was no big problem, but what about the Papillon dogs?

They could surely not be stopped from falling out as they always jump onto the sill of the large bay window.

No problem, a ladder was built, with high sides!

The cats, and the Papillons too, soon learnt how to get in and out

Even Moon the little kitten has found her way out

And then it became winter. We don't want to go out in THAT, nor do the humans want the window left open!!

And then I opened the window to take a photo, and Ringo SHOT out!

He was NOT impressed with what he found and kept shaking his paws, and quickly came back inside !

Then finally we got summer again -well, for a few days, at least
